Space: A scientist who practised living on Mars

This interview text for year 5 and P6, linking to the topic Earth and space, is with a real-life Martian (sort of!). NASA plans to send humans to Mars for the first time in the 2030s and many scientists think that within 50 years, people will be living there. But what would it be like? In an experiment to find out, Dr Sheyna Gifford and five others spent a year living in a simulated Mars habitat designed to mimic the conditions of living on the red planet.

This downloadable reading pack includes:

  • An A3 reading spread for you to print.
  • Reading comprehension question and answer sheets, differentiated using our magnifying glasses key (on the bottom right). One magnifying glass indicates easier and two means harder.
