Electricity: How LEDs work

Look at a light in your house, your school or even your TV screen – it may well be produced by a light-emitting diode (LED). These high-tech light sources are smaller, longer-lived and much more energy efficient than traditional light bulbs, making them ideal for all sorts of applications, from streetlights to phone screens. This explanation text for year 6 and P7, linking to the topic electricity, explains how LEDs work.

This downloadable reading pack includes:

  • An A3 reading spread for you to print.
