Interview with a pet detective

A non-fiction text linking to the topic living things and habitats and biodiversity and interdependence for year 2 and P3, this interview with Colin Butcher and his detective dog explains how they use their skills (and some science) to solve cases of missing pets. All dogs are born with incredibly well-defined senses. However, he explains if you want to train a dog to do something amazing (like find the unique scent of a missing pet), you must first develop an in-depth understanding of how dogs see, smell and hear the world.

This downloadable reading pack includes:

  • Two differentiated A3 reading spreads for you to print.
  • Reading comprehension question and answer sheets, differentiated using our magnifying glasses key (on the bottom right). One magnifying glass indicates easier and two means harder.
