A non-chronological report on periodical cicadas

This non-chronological report for years 5 and P6, linking to the topics living things and habitats and biodiversity and interdependence, investigates periodical cicadas. Periodical cicadas are insects that look like locusts and grasshoppers. They are called ‘periodical’ because of their very strange ‘time-travelling’ life cycle.

This downloadable reading pack includes:

  • A3 reading spread for you to print.
  • Reading comprehension question and answer sheets, organised by challenge level using our magnifying glass key (shown in the bottom right). One magnifying glass indicates a lower-challenge task, while two indicate a higher-challenge task.
