An interview with an archaeologist

In this interview for year 5, year 6, P6 and P7, Lucy Johnson explains what it’s like to work as an archaeologist in York. A commercial archaeologist’s job is to make sure that historical remains are investigated before building work takes place. They dig through layers to collect information about the past – they might find buildings, rubbish pits or wells. It can be very muddy digging in all weathers, but the results make it all worth it!
