"I love the resources, they're nicely linked to curriculum objectives and easy to pick up. Especially good for the
science-phobic amongst us as the ideas are all there."
Kay Wilkie, Year 6 teacher
Historical explorer Ferdinand Magellan
This narrative text for year 5 and P6, linking to the topic forces, reveals the amazing journey made by Ferdinand Magellan. Five hundred years ago, he volunteered for what seemed an impossible voyage through shark-infested oceans in a ship that was rotting beneath him. He chose an unknown route by sailing east to west, trusting the ancient Greek theory that the world was a sphere. Magellan overcame lots of challenges and made new discoveries. Sadly, he didn’t make it to the end of the voyage but his crew did. They had completed the first voyage around the world - and proved that it really was a sphere. This led to more accurate maps of the world.

"My daughter received her first issue yesterday, and she loves it! I was impressed with the quality of the content, and the paper it's printed on. I took out the year subscription and folder on a whim and so glad I did! The extra touch was her name on the envelope."Ruth Louise
"The subscription was a Christmas pressie for my 9 year old - we both love the magazine and doing the experiments together. Great bonding and great opportunity to do practical science experiments! Amazing!!"Cesca Voo
